Don't be in a hurry with the tri-tip though it can genuinely take 60-90 minutes to cook or more depending on size. Form practically 30 minutes per pound cooking time.
If you are the type of man who has to burn the heck out of a steak to eat it then the tri-tip is absolutely not for you. The tri-tip should be served medium or even medium rare. When the center climatic characteristic reaches 140 degrees it is time to take off it from the grill.
